Star Power and Grassroots Unite at Greenfest 2009

The Greenfest program for 2009 will be announced at the BCC Community Fair at  11:30 Sunday 26th April, Perrin Park Josling Street Taringa.  Amongst highlights to be announced are appearances by Justin North (Australian Chef of the Year), Summer Rayne Oakes (world’s leading eco-fashion model, author and activist pictured right www.summerrayne.net) in addition to over 170 exhibitors of industry leadership and innovation already booked. The program, to be revealed on Sunday, will detail entertainment and film, such as the Byron Bay Film Festival presentation of the Laya Project (www.layaproject.com), music and workshops on four stages throughout the City Botanic Gardens.  Come and enjoy a great morning announcing the Greenfest 2009 program at the BCC  Community Fair from 10:00am to 1pm with a free concert in support provided by Bunna Lawrie and The Boat People.

Where Angels Fear to Tread?

Associate Professor Tony Fry and the Queensland College of Art will present a future design workshop at Greenfest on Saturday 6th June, based on their outstanding program focussed on addressing design issues for creating the qualitative economy “Where Angels Fear to Tread”.m.conron@griffith.edu.au. The public workshop at Greenfest will continue on from these events to focus on:

·     Question the forces shaping the form of our future

·     Examine how this situation impacts what we design, produce and consume

·     How the future may be understood and engaged
