Readction Engines in Oxfordshire have secured a E1 million grant from the European Space Agency to advance its Sabre jet propulsion system which burns liquid hydrogen. With fossil fuel aviation responsible for about 3% of gloval greenhouse gas emissions which is rapidly growing the new technology could be an important first step in  finding a sustainable future fuel for air travel.  At the other end of the scale Welsh entrepeneur Andrew Reason has devised a new eco-friendly washing machine using 30% less energy for washing standard clothes than a top rated European energy efficient machine. The ‘Reason’ has a bigger drum for more washing, only uses warmed water when needed  and weighs the washing put in meaning that only the necessary amount of nwater and detergents will be used. Reason’s new project is part funded by a £45,000 green grant from the Welsh Assembley along with a £15,000 investment from a private investor.
