A Greener Festival (AGF) are delighted to announce Glasgow’s OVO Hydro to be the first in the world to achieve its “A Greener Arena” certification.
The arena which is the largest entertainment venue in Scotland, has a capacity of 14,300 and attracts more than one million visitors each year. Located within the SEC (Scottish Events Campus), the OVO Hydro is consistently ranked by Pollstar as one of the top 10 arenas globally.
The comprehensive A Greener Arena certification assesses a whole range of social and environmental factors including energy, travel, waste, recycling, community impacts, as well as equality, diversity & inclusion. The AGF assessment team were impressed with the work going on at OVO Hydro to reduce emissions and protect local bio-diversity. As part of the assessment AGF provide further recommendations to help the venue make further improvements and to support it on its journey to being a Net-Zero campus by 2030.

Being the first arena in the world to accomplish this is a huge achievement and we hope this paves the way for others to follow. It is a significant milestone on our journey towards net zero by 2030, and a real credit to the team who work so passionately on implementing our sustainability strategy”.
The award was presented to the OVO Hydro team at the recent Green Events & Innovations (GEI) conference.

International venue management giant ASM Global recently announced that its entire portfolio of UK venues will undergo AGF’s A Greener Arena certification
