Martyn’s Law is a proposed piece of legislation that is being backed by the UK government. Figen Murray has “lobbied for stronger anti-terror security measures” since her son Martyn Hett died in the 2017 bomb attack after the Arianna Grande concert at Manchester Arena.

The legislation seeks to create a coherent and proportionate approach to protective security. It should apply to any place or space to which the public have access. For small venues this may simply require an addition to their already mandated fire plan, for bigger more complex venues it will require a more holistic approach. Carl A H Martin looks at how this affects the production industry.
