Christa Licher is policy advisor at the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, where she focuses on the transition to a circular economy. She is manager of the International Green Deal Circular Festivals, a unique impact programme launched in 2019 working with over 20 international festivals and knowledge partners. Christa is also one of the initiators of the Plastic Promise NL launched in 2018 which champions next level innovative public private partnerships and an extensive network of leading innovators.
Creating awareness about environmental challenges has been a main driver throughout Christa’s career, both nationally and internationally. As a lead negotiator on Trade and Environment at the International Tropical Timber Organisation, Christa represented 38 consuming countries in promoting sustainable forest management and combating illegal logging and illegal trade. In addition, she was spokesperson at the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity on behalf of the EU.
With over 20 years of experience tackling environmental challenges, Christa is passionate about stimulating parties in ‘rethinking the norm’ and driving change from a government perspective and brings along all necessary partners for systems change.
Christa graduated in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in International Economic Relations as well as International Environmental Politics.
