Recycle the bicycle to Africa

Re-Cycles aim is to “Take an unwanted bike lying in the UK, ship it to Africa where it is really needed and teach the local people the skills to fix and maintain it.”

This simple formula helps the environment here, builds a cheap, green transport infrastructure there and provides individuals with skills for life.  There are millions of bikes lying unused in garages or being thrown away in the UK.  Meanwhile, in the Africa, a 4-hour daily walk is common ~ whether it is mothers collecting clean water, parents trekking to the farm / factory / market or to receive health care or children facing an arduous walk just to get to school and home again.

The bicycles that Re~Cycle collect and ship to Africa help improve lives and can be a first step out of poverty.
